Merle Beach qualified for IHSA Nationals in one event and helped lead the Saints’ riding team to second place at the IHSA Zone 2 Championship to earn the team’s eighth straight trip to the national championship.
 
Beach won the individual intermediate flat class and was second in open fences in the team competition. The top two teams at Zones qualify for nationals, and Saints finished tied for second with LIU Post, but extended their streak of IHSA Nationals appearances thanks to the second tiebreaker, as the Saints had four red ribbons vs. LIU Post’s two.
 
IHSA Nationals will be held from May 3-6 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
