"Phie is one of kind. A vibrant soul, she is a proud Vermonter and so it’s no surprise that her ability to live life to its core is often illustrated through her amazing smile and love for the outdoors. That being said, it’s not Phie’s cool, calm and collected manner that makes her so unique, it is that she is one of the most giving, genuine and joyous people we’ve ever come across. Phie’s passion for soccer also doesn’t go unnoticed. She is constantly working hard, asking questions and offers to help out both her teammates and coaches often.
"One of my favorite memories from this past season wasn’t necessarily a particular win or goal but Phie dancing like no other on the sideline when in fact we did score a goal. I’ve also never seen anyone jump so high with excitement as well as round up the rest of the sideline to join in with such celebrations. One of our team values is joy and it’s because of people like Phie that we are able to focus on the positives in life, smile and take a deep breath and remain grateful for what have.
Through a family friend, Phie has brought the Kenya Drylands Education Fund (KDEF) to the attention of our teams fundraising and community sub-committees in an effort to unite as a team and help support young women. It is with ideas like fundraising for KDEF coupled with Phie’s undying love for soccer and her teammates, that makes Phie a one of a kind human being that we are proud to have a part of the SLU women’s soccer program." - Assistant Coach Cassie Hayward
**The Kenya Drylands Education Fund supports young girls educations in Kenya by supplying them with menstrual hygiene kits (Opportunity Kits). These kits allow girls to stay in school while menstruating instead of missing an entire week of class. When these girls are forced to miss school the likelihood that they will not finish their education increases greatly, as does the chances of early marriage.**
