El Gawarhy upset the No. 1 and No. 4 seeds to advance to the national championship match at the College Squash Association Individual National Championships last weekend, where he finished as the national runner up. He beat Rochester’s Ashley Davies 11-9, 4-11, 11-9, 11-6 in the quarterfinals and Penn’s Andrew Douglas in the semifinals 11-7, 11-9, 11-8 before falling to eventual champion Victor Crouin of Harvard, 6-11, 6-11, 7-11.
