Biography
2016-17: Shields golfed in five invitational during his senior year with the Saints…He posted a season-best 30th-place finish at the St. Lawrence Invitational after shooting an 83 and 80… He wrapped up the season with a 32nd place finish at the third and fourth rounds of the Liberty League Championships.
2015-16: Shields shot an 82 and 80 at the St. Lawrence Invitational to tie for 30th.
2014-15: Shields shot 77-80 for a 157 total at the St. Lawrence Invitational and an 84-89 173 at Oswego.
2013-14: Shields played in three tournaments for the Saints as a rookie and had a collegiate best round of 76 in the Liberty League Championship opening round, but was forced to withdraw due to injury. He had an 84.2 stroke average in five rounds.
Prior to St. Lawrence
A three-year captain of the golf team at East Lyme, Shields also played basketball. An honor roll student, he is the son of former Saints lacrosse All-America Fran Shields and the grandson of former football quarterback Frank Shields, both of whom are members of the St. Lawrence Athletic Hall of Fame.
