Merle Beach won the intermediate flat class and finished second in open fences to qualify for the Zone 2 Championships in both events at the IHSA Zone 2 Region 2 Championships at Elsa Gunnison Appleton Riding Hall on Saturday. Beach will be competing as an individual at Zones for the first time in her career after finishing seventh in intermediate fences at regionals in 2017.
