The St. Lawrence University women's track and field team hit several regional and league qualifying marks on Friday afternoon in Staten Island, N.Y. at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
Olivia Watson and
Katherine Sheehy finished fourth and fifth in the 5,000 meters, respectively. Watson crossed the line in 18:24.12, a personal best by over 23 seconds, a regional qualifier, and the second best time in the Liberty League. Sheehy was just off her seasonal best and finished in 18:37.17. The pair had just one division III athlete ahead of them.
Alli Sibold ran a personal best in the mile. She lowered her already regional qualifying time to 5:07.11, which is the fifth best time in the region at time of publication, and fastest time in the league this season.
Emma Palumbo was also in the race and finished in 5:20.25, a few seconds off her best.
Bridget Hastings did take nine seconds off her mile-best, crossing in 5:23.56 to qualify for leagues.
First-year
Lacey Eckert led the Saints in the field. All three of her throws for weight topped her previous bests. It was her first throw of the day that proved to be her best, reaching 11.83 meters.
The distance medley relay team, all of whom were doubling back from individual events, finished in second place and the top time in the region this season. Palumbo and Sibold were joined by
Alexa Smith and
Alexis Parent, to finish in 12:32.07.
The Saints host their final home meet of the indoor season on February 17
th beginning at 3 p.m. before they begin the championship section of their season.
