Stephen Kuno was one of the captains of the 1982 St. Lawrence football team that set a school record for wins and remains — at the time of his induction — the most successful team in program history.
Stephen was a First-Team All-America selection at linebacker, leading the Saints’ defense with an incredible 165 tackles (112 solo and 53 assists), a school record that still stands today. He was a four-year starter and an ECAC All-East selection. He helped lead the Saints to the semifinal round of the NCAA Division III Football Championship as a senior, and the team finished the year with a school record 10 wins.
Stephen founded Kunoco, a fuel distribution company with convenience stores serving Northern New York, in 1990. He has been actively involved in organizing and coaching youth football for more than two decades, and serves on several boards in the community.
Stephen and his wife, Jacquelyn Hasper Kuno ’84, live in Hannawa Falls, NY, with their son, Jacques. They are also the parents of three Laurentians – Courtney ’12, Alex ’15, and Hans ’17.
