A two-time All America and the all-time leading scorer in St. Lawrence men’s lacrosse history, Sam Hovey helped the Saints to two NCAA tournament appearances in his four seasons.

A four-year starter and captain in 1986 and 1987, he earned second team All America honors as both a junior and senior. He holds career records for goals with 160 and points with 273 and is fourth on the all-time assist list with 113. He is third in season goals with 53 as a junior, and has the second best single-game production with seven.

A prolific scorer, he also came up with a number of key goals during his career including the game-winning goal in overtime against Cortland in his freshman year and the game-winning goal in overtime against Salisbury State in 1986. He played on teams which went 46-23 in his career including 13-4 in his senior year.

He also played one year of soccer in his SLU career, earning a degree in government in 1987. He is now a financial advisor with Northwestern Mutual and is a member of the Mllion Dollar Round Table. Sam and his wife, Romi, are the parents of two sons, Grayson and Landon.
