Nikki Williams turned in an outstanding career as a goalie
for the Saint women's lacrosse team, helping her teams to three straight NCAA
appearances including an appearance in the 1990 NCAA Division III Championship
game.
Now the women's lacrosse coach at Agnes Scott College in
Georgia and a lacrosse official, Nikki earned All State honors and was a
Regional All America, setting records for goals against average in a season,
5.01 in 1990, and saves (583) and goals against average (5.62) in a career. She
backstopped the team to a 11-1 regular season record in 1989, making 17 saves
in a 9-7 win over Johns Hopkins for St. Lawrence's first NCAA tournament win.
She led the team to a 15-1 record in 1990 which included the
first New York State Tournament championship and two NCAA tournament wins en
route a second place finish. She made 22 saves on 31 shots in the state
tournament and had 23 saves in the three NCAA tourney games. She led the 1991
team to its third straight NCAA appearance and a 11-5 overall record. She was 40-7
in three seasons as the primary starter in goal and 47-12 for her career.
Nikki began her
coaching career as the head coach at the Hotchkiss School, compiling a 67-10-2
record including an undefeated season, before moving to Georgia where she
coached club teams prior to becoming coach at Agnes Scott. A lacrosse official
as well as coach, she received the US Lacrosse Award for Excellence as Girls
Youth Coach of the Year in 2009.
