Mark Ferrante was the captain and starting quarterback of what — at the time of his induction — remains the best football team in St. Lawrence history. As a senior, Ferrante led the Saints to a 10-0 start in 1982, including a 43-34 win over Wagner in quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division III Football Championship.
Mark was a Second-Team All-America selection that season. He set school records for passing yards in a season (2,042), completions in a season (156) and total offense in a season (2,358), and led the offense to what still stands as a school record 341 points, an average of 31 points per game.
Mark has spent the last 30 years on the Villanova football coaching staff, with the last 18 as the assistant head coach. He will take over the head coaching duties following the 2016 season when his former coach at St. Lawrence, Andy Talley, retires.
He and his wife Georgea live in Phoenixville, Pa., with their son Jimmy.
