The Most Valuable Performer in both soccer and track and captain of both sports as a senior, Marc Koolen was an All-Conference and All-New York State back in soccer and set a number of records in track.
Class president and Senior Athlete of the Year, he led the soccer team to three outstanding seasons, which included a 1969 NCAA Atlantic Regional appearance and a three-year record of 30-3-2 in regular-season play. He was an Honorable Mention All-America in soccer in 1970.
In track, he established the St. Lawrence records in the high jump, long jump, 440 and mile relay and was a conference champion and the leading scorer in the 1972 ICAC Championships.
