A first-team All America in baseball as a junior and an All America quarterback in football who helped St. Lawrence to its first NCAA tournament appearance, Kirk Dempsey set a host of passing records during his three year career and led the nation in doubles in baseball.
He set 15 quarterbacking records during his football career, completely rewriting the passing and total offense records. His 4152 career passing yards, 301 completions and 39 touchdown passes were all SLU records and he established records for passing yards in a game with 322, completions in a game with 26 and touchdown passes in a game with five. He led the Saints to their first ever NCAA berth in 1976, capping an 8-1 regular season and led his teams to 23 wins in three seasons.
He was an all conference second baseman and the only first team All America in the post-1960 era of Saint baseball. He led the team in hitting with a .371 average and in runs driven in as a senior.
