A first team lacrosse All America and the 1980 C. Markland Kelly Award winner as Division III Goaltender of the Year, John Fowler backstopped the Saints to two NCAA appearances.
He had a 65 percent save average as a senior and a 9.5 goals against average as the Saints earned a spot in the NCAA quarterfinals and split games as a junior, helping the team to a 17-4 record and an upset win over Hobart in the quarterfinals and into the NCAA semifinals. He was also a goaltender for the ice hockey team from 1976-79.
A history instructor, coach and dean at the University Liggett School, he coached both lacrosse and hockey and was coach of the year in Michigan in ice hockey in 1990 and in lacrosse in 1993.
