Part of the original “Brain Trust” with fellow inductees Craig Battle and Bill Chadwick, John Cook played a big role in the success of the football and lacrosse teams in the late 1960s.
A defensive end, he earned All ECAC honors in his first varsity game against Bates in 1967. Again in 1968 he was All ECAC against Hobart with a 52 yard interception return for a touchdown, ten unassisted tackles and three sacks. In 1968 he played both ways at defensive end and tight end while also handling the punting and kicking. John was one of the outstanding defensive played on the 1969 team which went 7-1, won the Independent College Athletic Conference title and was runner up for the Lambert Cup. John was part of the 1969 lacrosse team which recorded SLU’s first-ever win over Colgate.
Now president of the Environmental Careers Organization, he is the holder of a SLU Alumni Citation.
