A four year player in both basketball and baseball, Howie Kane was the first St. Lawrence basketball player to score over 1,000 career points.

An outstanding shooter who had 278 career free throws, Kane scored 1,030 points in his four seasons of varsity basketball. He was named the Freshman Athlete of the Year and the Senior Athlete of the Year and was captain of both the baseball and basketball squads as a senior.

How retired from a position of sales manager for General Electric, Kane set single season scoring records as a junior and senior, scoring 281 points as a junior and 348 as a senior. He also set the single game record with 35 points against Middlebury and capped his senior year with a .342 batting average in baseball.

Kane made an impressive debut as a freshman, scoring 18 points in his first college game and averaged 11.4 points per game during his rookie season.
