A leader in three sports as an undergraduate, Ike Eysaman played center in football, was a catcher in baseball and wrestled heavyweight despite weighing only 180 pounds. He also helped in the organization of the modern day varsity hockey program and played goal in several games before becoming the team manager.
He entered St. Lawrence in 1941 and was a letterman as a center and linebacker on the 1942 football team. He served in the Navy when World War II broke out and served on a PT boat in the Pacific theater. He participated in over 25 combat patrols and earned several citations. He returned to St. Lawrence to complete his degree following his Navy service and was a three-year member of the L Club.
He was tapped for membership in Kixioc, was president of this fraternity and was listed in Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. He served on the Campus Council and was student representative to the Board of Athletic Control.
Following his graduation from St. Lawrence, he served as a regional manager for Mobil Oil, Nigeria, Ltd. His life was cut short at age 32 when he died in the crash of an airliner.
