One of three riders in St. Lawrence history to win an
individual national championship in open competition at the Intercollegiate
Horse Show Association National Championship Show, Erin Davis Garfield was a three-year member of the riding team and had one of the outstanding seasons in
program history as a sophomore.
Erin was the St. Lawrence Equestrian Team Most Valuable
Performer award winner in 1987 and was the Region II High Point Rider of the
Year, dominating competition in Open Equitation over Fences and Open Equitation
on the Flat throughout the season.
At the 1987 National Championship Show in Indianapolis, Erin
won the blue ribbon in Individual Open Equitation over Fences and finished
fifth in Individual Open Equitation on the Flat. She also finished fifth in the
nation in the Fitch Class for all region high point riders and rode in the team
competition for the Cartier Cup, finishing first in the Cartier Open Flat
competition and sixth in the Cartier Open Fences competition.
A Technical Recruiter for 16 years, earning six President's
Club Awards Erin and her husband Ben ‘90, a sprinter on the track team who
earned All America honors in the 1600 relay in 1987, are the parents of three
children.
