One of the outstanding "big men" in St. Lawrence basketball history, Drew Skonberg starred on both the basketball court and the baseball field during his St. Lawrence career and helped the Saints to back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances in basketball.
He was a three-time first team All ICAC choice in basketball and the player of the year in 1977-78. He also earned first team All-East honors in 1977-78 and 1978-79 and became the second player in Saint basketball history to score over 1,000 career points and grab 1,000 career rebounds. Upon graduation he was the holder of the career rebound record with 1,208 and scored 1,386 points, which is third on the all-time Saint list. He was also second in career field goal percentage, had the third best single season percentage and was an intimidating force on the defensive end of the court with his shot-blocking abilities.
He finished his basketball career with averages of 13.8 points and 12.1 rebounds per game and averaged 16 points and 14 rebounds per game over his last three seasons.
A solid glove at first base and a power hitter, Drew also had an outstanding baseball career for the Saints and was first team All ICAC and first team All East at first base in 1976. He earned the KSLU Outstanding Senior Athlete Award and went on to play professional basketball in France and the Dominican Republic as well as a brief tour in the Continental Basketball Association.
An honors graduate of chiropractic school, Drew is now a successful chiropractor in his hometown of Newburgh, NY.
