The first St. Lawrence All America in the sports of women's cross country and track and field, Deb Danehy Lyndaker followed an outstanding career as a St. Lawrence athlete with an equally stellar career as a Saint coach.
She was the first cross country All America in the fall of 1995 and earned indoor track and field All America honors in the 1500 meters in the 1997 NCAA indoor championships. She was 1996 NCAA New York State Regional Champion in cross country and was also New York State champion in cross country and a seven-time state champion in track and field. She was the NYSCTC most valuable runner in indoor and outdoor track as a senior and was the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association MVP in indoor track in both 1996 and 1997. She set 14 St. Lawrence records in track and field and was a two-time team captain in cross country and three-time captain in track and field. The Senior Female Athlete of the Year in 1997, Deb was also outstanding in the classroom, earning Academic All America honors in both cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field and the St. Lawrence ECAC-Robbins Scholar-Athlete Award in 1997.
Deb returned to St. Lawrence as an assistant track and field coach in 1998 and became head coach of women's cross country in the fall of 2001. Prior to her retirement from coaching at the end of the 2008 season, she earned league coach of the year honors in cross country six consecutive times and led her team to six straight league titles with two NCAA team bids. She also helped the track and field programs to prominence on both the state and conference levels.
Deb and her husband Jeff, a former Saint runner, are the parents of two boys, Nicholas and Nathan.
