Chuck Esty ’92 was one of the most physically dominating players in St. Lawrence football history. A six-foot, five-inch, 300-pound offensive lineman, Chuck was a four-year starter, a two-year captain and a two-time All-America selection who helped the offense average over 150 rushing yards per game over the course of his career. He was also a standout thrower for the track and field team, finishing 12th at the NCAA indoor championships in the weight throw as a senior.

After graduating from St. Lawrence, Chuck played professional football for five seasons. He spent one year with the New England Patriots and another with the Denver Broncos before a three-year stint in the Canadian Football League. He played in 38 games for three different teams in the CFL and helped lead the San Antonio Texans to a 12-6 record and a first-round playoff win in 1995.

Upon his retirement from football, he started a career in law enforcement and has worked for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department since 1999. In 2015 he was promoted to sergeant in special enforcement detail. He also owns and operates Esty Breaching, a manufacturing company that produces breaching tools for law enforcement agencies for use in search and arrest warrants with the aim of making tactical breaching safer and more efficient.

Chuck lives in Foresthill, California, with his wife, Rebecca, and their sons, Chase, Zander and Gage.
