The first St. Lawrence woman to earn All America honors in skiing when she finished eighth overall and fourth among American-born skiers in the 1984 NCAA Championships, Cami Thompson was also the 1984 winner of the Outstanding Female Athlete Award.
Cami capped a brilliant senior season with her All America finish at the NCAA championships. She had four fourths, a first and a second in individual competition during her senior year, the first and second marking the best finish ever for a Saint woman in a Division I Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association carnival. An All East skier, she went on to finish as the second American finisher in the Nor-Am Championships in 1984.
She continued her ski career following graduation as a member of the U.S. Ski team and had two top 30 finishes in international competition. She skied on the US World Championships team in Austria in 1985 and was U.S. National Champion at 5 kilometers in 1986.
A member of the U.S. Ski Association Board of Directors from 1988-98, she was the U.S. Disabled Team Ski Coach in 1989-90 and has been the women's Nordic team coach for the Dartmouth College ski team since 1989. She is the chair of the NCAA Skiing Rules committee and was 1998, 1999 and 2001 Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association Coach of the Year.
