A 1972 NCAA Division II wrestling All America and a two-time Independent College Athletic Conference champion in wrestling, Bill Dowbiggin was one of the outstanding St. Lawrence athletes of the early 1970s.

He earned a spot in the NCAA Division II semifinals as a senior and went on to become Canadian National Intercollegiate champion in 1973 as a graduate student at the University of Alberta. By virtue of his NCAA showing and the Canadian intercollegiate title he is one of the few athletes ever to earn both All America and All Canadian status. He also won the Canadian National Championship at 125 pounds in 1968 and earned a spot on the Canadian National Team.

Also a member of the Saint soccer team, Bill was a two-time Independent College Athletic Conference champion in wrestling and helped the 1969 wrestling team compile a eight match win streak with his consistent point production at 142 pounds. He compiled a 53-5-1 record career record in wrestling.

Now a consultant, his company is an official licensee for the Olympic Games, World University Games, Commonwealth Games, National Hockey League, Canadian Football League and the Thoroughbred Racing Association.
