A record-setting forward on
the St. Lawrence women's hockey teams from 1994-97, Andrea Blakely was both an
outstanding athlete and an outstanding student as an undergraduate.
She was a three-year captain
of the hockey team, earned the 1996 ECAC-Robbins Scholar-Athlete Award and was
both the women's ice hockey Most Valuable Player and the class of 1997 Senior
Scholar Athlete Award winner in her senior year. She elected to Phi Beta Kappa,
the national academic honorary.
Andrea established the season
record for goals with 26 in her junior season and had the third best
single-season point total in program history in that same season with 50.
She established the career
record for goals with 65 at the time of her graduation and was second on the
all-time assist list with 72 and second in points with 137. She established the
single game record for goals and points in an ECAC game with four goals and
three assists against Boston College during her senior year. She helped her 1995 team to reach the ECAC semifinals
as the 8th-seeded Saints, the only
Division III team in the top eight in the league, upset top-seeded Brown 2-1 in
the quarterfinals.
Andrea was an assistant crown
attorney in Ottawa at the time of her induction.
